During Level 5 and 4 – lockdown regulations, Training Officers who would travel locally and internationally to offer on-the-job training could no longer travel. Employees could not attend training or practical training workshops, and teachers and children could not go to school.
Despite the restrictions, SEESA focussed on some positive results the COVID-19 pandemic had on Skills Development for employees professionally and personally.
Live Webinar Training Courses
As an accredited training provider, SEESA adapted quickly from traditional classroom training to online webinar and E-Learning training methods.
SEESA offers over 20 courses of which most of them are available in the form of a live webinar. SEESA Webinar Training conveys the same course content as classroom sessions. Subject matter specialists present the webinars, and there is also technical support should a learner experience technical difficulties. Whilst attendees’ mics are muted, they are still welcome to interact with the facilitator and communicate their questions using the chat function. During the webinar, learners also receive a digital manual, which they can download, and print. The most important requirements would be a stable internet connection, and basic computer literacy with all technology.
E-Learning
As SEESA, weplan to roll out more than 12 courses within the next few months. The E-Learning course allows learners the flexibility of time and venue whilst still ensuring they can receive quality and relevant training. The E-Learning files are available on ProFile, and learners will also be required to complete a basic Q and A session at the end of each module. E-Learning is accessible via any smart device, and there is no time limit within which learners need to complete the course.
Booking of Webinars and E-Learning
Clients can book their employees to attend webinar training or E-Learning through ProFile Web, SEESA’s online employee management system accessible to all SEESA clients. These two methods of skills development contribute to a greener way of providing training as well.
SEESA employees were also challenged in terms of Skills Development on a personal level. Employees with children in primary and high school had to become teachers who had to master google classroom and other online learning platforms. They had to learn the syllabus and find creative and suitable ways to ensure that their kids could still excel academically. Employees also had to become hand at home, as we are sure YouTube DYI video’s reached record high views during the last two years. We believe this will have a positive impact on all in society.
With change, one can choose to take a negative or positive approach. SEESA chose to be positive about change and the challenges resulting from it. Taking on this perspective drives employees to be innovative, forward-thinking and trendsetters!
