SEESA’s Incident Investigation course is designed to provide individuals who have been nominated as their company’s accident/incident investigators with a clear understanding of the legal requirements according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act with specific focus on the practical approach for conducting effective investigations at the workplace to prevent a re-occurrence. This course will also contribute to compliance with your organisation’s Health and Safety policies, procedures and standards and is not a just a good-to-have skill but an absolute essential skill to ensure an accident and incident free working environment.
The quality of the investigation is fully dependant on the quality of the investigator. The quality of the investigator depends fully on the quality of their training.

| What you’ll learn: |
To reduce the number of incidents and accidents that take place, you need to implement a health and safety program that:
- Identifies hazards – by reviewing employees, tasks, tools and the environment, it is possible to identify hazards and risks within a workplace.
- Implements controls – by implementing controls, it is possible to minimise the occurrence of incidents and accidents.
- Investigates incidents and accidents – the importance of incident and accident reporting shouldn’t be underestimated. When an incident and accident is correctly reported and investigated, it ensures the root cause is found and that additional measures put in place to avoid a recurrence. In reality, the root cause of an incident and accident often comes from a predictable event, one that could have been prevented if the right actions had been taken.
Whether you believe that accidents happen or that all incidents and accidents should be preventable, the business owner has a responsibility to protect the health and safety of all employees. And that means doing everything they can to reduce the likelihood of incidents and accidents occurring at the workplace.
