    Is Your Business Prepared?

If any of these describe your business, there is likely work to be done before the next reporting cycle.

    • You employ 50 or more people and have Employment Equity obligations
    • You need help preparing an Employment Equity Plan or the annual reports
    • You must prepare and submit a WSP and an ATR each year
    • You want guidance on mandatory and discretionary Skills Development grants
    • You want to place your own employees on training or a learnership
    • You are not certain what B-BBEE level your business can realistically reach
    • You would rather run compliance, training and B-BBEE as one plan

    Frequently Asked Questions

Who must submit an Employment Equity Report?

Employers that meet the definition of a designated employer generally have annual Employment Equity reporting obligations. Whether your business is designated depends on factors including the number of people you employ. SEESA can review your position and assist with the current reporting cycle.

What is the Employment Equity reporting deadline?

The reporting window is set by the Department of Employment and Labour each year. For the current cycle, online reporting opens on 1 September 2026 and closes on 15 January 2027 at 23:59. Speak to SEESA to confirm the dates that apply to your business.

What are a WSP and an ATR?

A Workplace Skills Plan sets out the training a business plans for the year ahead, and an Annual Training Report records the training that was actually delivered. Both are submitted to the relevant SETA. SEESA assists with the drafting and submission of both.

Can training and learnerships improve our B-BBEE score?

Skills Development is a scorecard element, so training and learnerships your business runs for its own employees may contribute towards a B-BBEE score. How much they contribute depends on the sector code that applies to your business and on how the spend is structured. SEESA can advise on what would qualify.

Can SEESA assist with Employment Equity and B-BBEE together?

Yes. Employment Equity, Skills Development and B-BBEE overlap, and SEESA supports all three as one coordinated plan rather than as three separate exercises.

What if we are not sure what our business needs?

That is a common starting point. SEESA will review where your business currently stands across Employment Equity, Skills Development and B-BBEE, and set out what applies to you and what does not.

    One Partner. Coordinated Employer Support.

Employment Equity, Skills Development and B-BBEE are usually handled by three different people, in three different ways, at three different times of the year.
